OIL GEOLOGIST Robert Stewart (above) shares with one Tennessee study group how fossils in the oil bed he has sunk several wells into (the Fort Payne formation USA) had to be dump deposits that formed quickly as shown by their jumbled state. Then they had to be covered rapidly to prevent any of the oil coming from fatty tissues in the millions of dead creatures from leaking away. Robert pointed out this oil bed stretches from Alabama to Arizona and north to Canada so the catastrophic dumping was provably on a huge scale, and as a result he, as a professional Geologist, has no problem accepting Noah's Flood at all. The fossils in the bed are mostly large crinoids (photo above right) which are still found living off Australia's coast so are no help to evolution and only enhance the Biblical picture "after their kind". Robert is one of our USA Creation Research field guides.

Several years ago John Mackay and John Johnson visited a new site in eastern Washington State USA where some amazing vertical fossil trees has been found embedded in volcanic basalt. The vertical tree bottoms were protruding into muddy layers and the tops were actually some 2 or 3 metres into the basalt. They were mostly Douglas Fur trees that were very well petrified, providing a good source of income for the property owner as polished specimens. The local museum had invited us to the site as they were planning on setting up a fossil forest display so it was great to be able to helpfully show them that these trees had no roots and therefore could not have grown there, so it wasn't a forest.
When people proclaim an area as a fossil forest they then proceed to figure out how long it took to grow how long it took to get covered up and you end up with stories about millions of years. When they are forced to admit a catastrophic flood deposit and rapid volcanic cover up – all the millions of years disappear. This research and public direction is vital and your prayers and financial support are really needed.

We shared with the museum staff that we had explored the areas in Washington State where such fossil trees were found underneath basalt, usually horizontally in mud deposits that had turned to shale, and in every case the evidence showed they had been washed in. We predicted similar horizontal trees would also be found near this new deposit and the vertical ones would also prove to have been washed in from somewhere else and then overlayed with basalt which has produced very the unusual deposit of vertical trees. We are pleased to report that the owner has recently contacted us to say they have now found horizontal logs under the basalt, not far from these vertical logs thus confirming what we said.

John Mackay will be back in Washington State to do further research at the invitation of the owner of the property and we would ask your prayers for this. Pray for us as we go to further research this site and for the role we have even in advising secular museums to get their public displays correct.
